Definitely original succulent not present in nature but obtained in the nursery as a hybrid of E. gibbiflora 'Carunculata'. It is one of the three rare exemplars of "volcano plant", so called for its name, chosen in reference to the homonymous volcano of the Hawaii islands. As well as E. 'Etna' and E. 'Barbillon'. Also this species is compared to a volcano due to the wrinkled fleshy bursts, similar to craters, which develop in mature age along the upper surface of the foliage. Placed in the typical compact rosette that reaches 30 cm in diameter, this succulent plant has wide and roundish leaves, characterized by strongly ruffled margins that give it an extremely dynamic and pleasant trend. To its unusual shape are added absolutely unique colors: the epidermis is tinged with a blue-violet that becomes more intense when it receives abundant sunlight and livens even more near the edges, pleasantly shaded with a bright reddish-pink.
