Description:

It is a beautiful plant that naturally grows on steep cliffs between Tijuana and Ensenada in Baja California and can live up to 100 years. Often also called 'Britton's dudleya' in honor of the botanist Nathaniel Lord Britton, or 'Giant Chalk Dudleya' due to the characteristic white powder that covers its leaves to protect it from harmful UV rays. This rosette-shaped, white succulent with its long, lanceolate leaves reaches up to 50 cm in diameter. When the plant reaches its mature age, the leaves at the base dry out (but don't worry, it is normal). In spring, its beautiful yellow star-shaped flowers bloom from a long peduncle. A curios fact: when flowering, the plant itself tends to change the color, fading to red.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer and suspend watering completely in autumn and winter.

The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
