Description:

It is a succulent plant that can reach up to 40 cm in height that, depending on the variety, can be biennial or perennial. Generally, it produces many long and erect stems, on which appear numerous elongated leaves, ovate, larger at the base and which shrink towards the apex. The foliage develops in a spiral or rosette shape, is light green in color but with exposure to the sun takes an intense red color, creating a wonderful chromatic effect. The variegated shape of the succulent presents the typical lighter areas in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: these characteristics will never be the same from one plant to another, therefore each specimen will be absolutely unique! The flowering period is usually in spring/summer, when very small, star-shaped, white or pink inflorescences bloom.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately and only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce it to once every two months in autumn and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well draining and porous one, for example formed by a mix of peat and pumice so that water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
