The monstrous shape of this cactaceae presents asymmetries or anomalies such as lack of thorns that make each plant unique in its kind as these characteristics are never the same in plants. C. elephantidens in its normal form is a cactus plant with a solitary posture that with time can become inflamed at the base. It has as a medium-sized olive green stem slightly concave at the apex with large fluffy tubercles. From the elongated areolas come out curved and robust spines of yellowish color. The flowering takes place from late summer to autumn, generating flowers with a color ranging from light yellow to pale pink.
