Description:

Copiapoa gigantea is a globular, olive green colored plant, and from its body sprout several hexagonal shaped tubercles with spines that can vary from yellow to orange shades. The part where spines are thicker is the top, where reddish spots may also appear. Its body is covered with a waxy coating, which is important to protect this species from losing too much moisture. The Copiapoa gigantea is peculiar but at the same time rather simple in appearance, perfect for any type of decor style.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 6 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. Suspend watering in spring and summer.

A well draining soil is an optimal solution, for example formed by a mix of peat and more than 50% of pumice and lapilli so that water does not stagnate.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
