Description:
It is a solitary cactus, depressed at the apex, generally with a globular habit, that sometimes can become columnar. The brownish-green epidermis is covered with a waxy layer, which helps the plant to prevent drying. The stem has conical tubercles, equipped with very downy areoles, from which robust and rigid black spines emerge.

Plant care:
It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 6 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. Suspend watering in spring and summer.
A well draining soil is an optimal solution, for example formed by a mix of peat and more than 50% of pumice and lapilli so that water does not stagnate.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
