A cactacea plant much sought after and highly appreciated by green collectors. In its natural habitat it grows mainly in rocky coastal areas. Its dull green stem tending to a greyish color, has a cylindrical shape, slightly concave at the apex, with dense, well-defined and slightly tuberculated ribs, along which there are small downy rounded yellowish areoles. The spines are very long and robust, of a brownish-yellow color that with age tends to gray. Flowering occurs in spring-summer and blooms with shiny yellow bell-shaped flowers.
