Cleistocactus margaritanus

C. margaritanus is a columnar shrubby cactus that expands branching at the base and creating new stems. The epidermis has a very lively green hue, marked by several well protruding tubercles. The most important characteristic of this cactus is undoubtedly constituted by the thick golden-yellow thorns that cover entirely the surface of the stem: they are thin and long spines, whose function is to protect the epidermis from direct exposure to the sun, creating a layer of air close to the surface that allows the plant to remain cool in summer and warm in winter! Its magnificent tubular flowers bloom at the apex of the cactaceae and have bright shades tending to red and orange.
