Cleistocactus hildegardiae

This cactus exemplar from Bolivia has a cylindrical shape. Its green stem is equipped with several tuberculate ribs, above which are found fluffy and whitish areoles. Its spines come out from these areolas : the radials are thin, yellowish and numerous while the central ones are longer, more robust and of brown colour with light tips that darken during the growth. The flowers of C. hildegardiae bloom at the apex of the stems and are red.
