Description:
Beautiful cactacea, with a columnar stem, sometimes slightly branched at the base, well erect and with a diameter of a few centimeters but which reaches in nature even the 2 meters high! It has numerous longitudinal ribs slightly marked, equipped with brown or black areolas that, with the growth, tend almost to disappear; from them emerge sparse yellow thorns, thin and of variable length. In summer Cleistocactus baumannii will delight you with beautiful red-fuchsia flowers, rather long, narrow pipe-shaped and with an apical opening full of thin lively petals!

Plant care:
It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce it to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.
The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
