Description:

Succulent whose name definitely reflects its main characteristic: it is in fact an absolutely "peculiar" exemplar due to the presence of two different types of foliage well distinct, both of a characteristic opaque greyish, tending to purple. During the vegetative season a pair of rather flat and almost triangular leaves grows, arranged opposite each other and lying on the ground. At the center between the two comes out a second pair of much more fleshy and rigid leaves, which remain erect with their conical shape and united for a good part of their length (typical characteristic of the Aizoaceae family). From the crack between the latter bloom large daisy-shaped flowers with multi-layered petals on the notes of reddish-yellow, but that’s not all: from the center will grow cyclically even new leaves, which will lie on the ground while the previous ones will take on an almost paper look and help protect the plant!

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. Once a week in autumn, once a month in winter and once every two months in spring and summer.

The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
