Cephalocereus senilis f. crestata

The crested form of this cactacea is truly unique in appearance, with its fan shape completely covered with the typical long white wool, similar to hair. In its normal form it is a columnar cactus that in the wild can reach up to 15 m in height and about 40 cm in diameter! Generally it produces a solitary stem but, if it branches out, it does so exclusively at the base of the main stem. Numerous hair-like bristles emerge from large woolly areoles that create a wonderful whitish down, which covers the whole body of the plant. The central spines are very thin and yellowish in color. With maturity the plant stops growing in height, developing a cephalium at the top.
