Description:

It is a plant that is easily recognizable by its fan-like appearance that comes out of an ovoid bulb, partially exposed out of the ground. The bluish-green foliage is arranged in two opposing rows, similar to an open fan. The leaves are up to 50 cm long and about 3-4 cm wide. Before the growth of the new leaves, numerous pink or red flowers bloom, grouped in a spherical umbrella. Synonym: Amaryllis disticha.

Plant care:

Avoid direct sunlight, which may burn the plant, but choose a sheltered and bright location instead.

It requires mild temperatures, it is advisable to shelter it when the winter temperatures drop below 5 °C.

It is advisable to water it during the growing period, but only when the soil is dry. During the resting period it is necessary to completely suspend watering: the bulbs are very sensitive to rotting, therefore it is better less water rather than exaggerate with it.

A well-draining substrate with a strong organic component is an optimal solution, in which the bulb can grow both underground and on the ground, where it is able to root.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
