Austrocylindropuntia pachypus

A. pachypus is a columnar and little branched cactus, which in nature can reach even 2 meters in height. It has a bright green stem, equipped with hexagonal tubercles among which are yellow and woolly areoles. From the latter come out yellowish spines, tending to brown, very thin and long, well straight. The flowers of A. pachypus bloom at the apex of the stem during the summer and are bright red or dark orange.
