Astrophytum ornatum

Also known as "Star cactus", due to its shape which resembles a star. Its stem, initially spherical, tends to become cylindrical over time. Its grey-green epidermis has a thick white punctuation. From its sparse white downy areoles long stiff red-brown spines come out. In the hottest periods of the year, at the apex, it blooms with large lemon-yellow flowers.
