Astrophytum capricorne f. monstrous

The monstrous shape of a cactus has abnormalities of the shape such as asymmetries or lack of thorns; these characteristics will never be identical in two or more different plants making each of them unique in its kind and for this reason highly appreciated by collectors. In its normal form it is a globose cactus, which with time becomes columnar and can reach up to a meter in height. Its green stem is more or less covered by white fluffy spots that distinguish it in the genus. The ribs are well marked with a thin margin, have sparse yellowish fluffy areoles from which grow tufts of long twisted, flattened and brownish-gray thorns, similar to capricorn horns, from which it takes the name 'Capricorne'. During the summer at the apex of the plant large funnel-shaped inflorescences are created, yellow with red inside.
