It is a small, slow-growing succulent plant that reaches a maximum height of 15 cm. It produces a sturdy stem, on which long, overlapping bluish-green leaves grow, which tend to curve upwards. The edges of the leaves are covered with small pink teeth, very peculiar. Its name 'inexpectata' derives from Latin and means "unexpected", probably referring to the unexpected discovery of this species. The tubular flowers, red with white tips, appear in summer, giving the plant a wonderful chromatic effect.
