Aloe dichotoma (also known as “quiver tree”) is a very peculiar plant that can live over 80 years, it takes its name from the Bushmen people, who use the branches and leaves to build quivers to stock their arrows. This species can grow up to 7 m, the trunk and branches are whitish due to a dust produced by the plant to protect itself from the sun. On the contrary, the leaves can be green or tending to navy blue and are narrow and pointed with sharp ends. The buds of yellow flowers that usually bloom during the summer can be compared to asparagus, both in shape and flavor, and are a source of nutrition for different types of birds.
