Aeonium simsii f. variegated

The variegated shape of this succulent presents shades/ streaks due to the lack of chlorophyll, which make the exemplar unique and very sought after by collectors around the world. In its normal form this beautiful succulent differs in part from the other species of the genus due to its decidedly lower and compact posture (does not exceed the 12-15 cm of height), but tending to make its slender woody stems ramify abundantly. The rosettes are rather open, formed by long and lanceolate leaves, strongly pointed at the apex and covered by a sort of down that makes its pale green soft and opaque. When exposed to abundant sunlight, the succulent gives us wonderful reddish-burgundy streaks along the lower leaf surface. The margins are enriched by microscopic translucent eyelashes, which give A. simsii a frayed and extremely characteristic appearance. The charm of this plant is greatly accentuated in spring, when at the apex of long stems bloom showy clusters of bright yellow flowers.
