Aeonium 'Cyclops'

Beautiful succulent, obtained in an American nursery from the union between A. undulatum and A. arboreum 'Zwartkop'. It is commonly known as "red giant Aeonium" because of the remarkable size it can reach over 1.2 meters high and 40 cm in diameter for each rosette! These last ones grow along a central woody stem which tends to ramify, obtaining several large and well open rosettes. They are formed by small fleshy and extremely glossy leaves, of a beautiful bordeaux-red colour which fades towards the emerald green at the centre. As with most succulents, the color of the epidermis changes greatly depending on the sun’s exposure and the seasons, allowing you to get always different plants throughout the year and to further brighten up your locations in early spring, when the red of the leaves will contrast pleasantly with the small starry flowers of a beautiful bright yellow. A. 'Cyclops', whose name recalls its mighty size, almost like a giant cyclop that has the green center of the rosette as it’s single eye, has an amazing ability to resist even at very low temperatures, difficult for other Aeonium cultivation!
