Acanthocalycium spiniflorum

Acanthocalycium spiniflorum, also known as Echinopsis spiniflora, at a young age looks like a globular cactus, which over time can become cylindrical, reaching up to 15 cm in height. The body, of a color that can vary from light to dark green, has numerous ribs, on which areoles are formed that become less and less downy with age. From these areoles spines of rather variable appearance grow: they are generally curved, thin and flexible, of a color ranging from black to white-yellow. In summer, Acanthocalycium spiniflorum blooms with splendid flowers with petals ranging in color from white to pink-lilac. The name Spiniflorum derives from its funnel-shaped flowers which have small thorns at the base.
