Acanthocalycium hoevenii

This cactus with a globular stem is highly prized by collectors. It has a globular bluish green stem, equipped with ribs. On the ribs are the downy white areoles from which its spines emerge. The spines are thin, grey-brown in colour, long and slightly curved. Its beautiful flowers bloom at the apex of the stem, are large in size, and brightly colored like orange or peach.
