Mammillaria supraflumen f. variegated (Variegated)

Pleasant plant found on steep rocks in Ferriera, along the Jalisco River, Mexico. It is a small cactus generally solitary, characterized by globose shape, slightly cylindrical with growth, particularly widespread also for its easy cultivation. The green stem hides under numerous straight, brownish and sporadically hooked spines, coming out from large areoles and covered by a white down. It blooms from April to July forming a wonderful crown of funnel-shaped flowers that fade from pink to magenta. The variegated shape presents the typical lighter areas in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: these characteristics will never be the same from one plant to another, therefore each specimen will be absolutely unique!
