Mammillaria melanocentra f. variegated (Variegated)

M. melanocentra in its variegated form represents a unique and distinctive cactus exemplar , thanks to its variegation. Its globose stem, slightly depressed at the apex, tends, during the growth, to become cylindrical. It has very protruding tubercles, with a pyramidal shape, among which grows a white down. From the white and woolly areolas come out the radial and central thorns: the former are thin and of pale yellow colour, whilst the central thorn ( usually is only one), is more robust and long, of dark brown colour and facing upwards. The flowering period is spring, during which we can admire the beautiful white or pink flowers, enriched by a central red stripe, giving the plant a decidedly special appearance.
