Lobivia aurea f. variegata (Variegated)

The variegated shape of this cactaceae has characteristic yellow zones in correspondence of the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: such striations are never equal from one cactus to another, therefore each specimen is absolutely unique and, for this reason, very sought after by collectors of succulents. Known also as Echinopsis aurea, in its normal form it has a dark green stem that can be spherical or elongated and is characterized by well marked longitudinal ribs. These ones are covered by brown areoles, from which come out brown-blackish combed thorns with yellowish tips. In late spring it generates bright yellow or white flowers, perfect to give L. aurea a touch of vivacity and incomparable elegance.
