The variegated shape of this cactaceae presents typical yellow zones at the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: the stripes will never be perfectly equal from one exemplar to another. For this reason, they are extremely rare and loved by collectors. It’s a generally solitary cactus but, with age, it can grow in small groups. With a globose shape and a green-olive colour, it has well-defined ribs and white woolly areoles. Its long rigid thorns assume particular pinkish-grey hues which darken on the tips. It produces large and beautiful funnel-shaped flowers with a white-pink color.
