This cactacea plant is highly appreciated for its particular characteristics. The stem has a rounded shape with wide and not very accentuated ribs, it reaches considerable dimensions, compared to the other species of the Gymnocalycium genus. The epidermis is of a dark green color with a well-marked yellow variegation that makes each plant unique and therefore highly sought after by green collectors. It has a few downy and well-spaced areoles of a white color, from which sparse yellow spines emerge. It produces tubular flowers of multiple colors, which vary from white to pale pink.
