E. erectocentrus f. variegated is a particular- looking cacti exemplar, thanks to its variegation and for this reason it is appreciated by collectors. Its lively green globose stem has several well marked ribs with a very wavy shape. The green shade of the stem alternates with the yellow of the variegation, creating a very pleasant visual impact. The thorns that come out from the white woolly areoles, are radial and central: the first ones are thin, short and of white colour, whilst the central ones are more robust, flat of yellowish colour with brown tips. During the flowering period, in late autumn, E. erectocentrus f. variegata gives us small beautiful funnel-shaped flowers of pale pink colour with purple and red central lines.
