Echinocactus texensis f. variegated (Variegated)

Echinocactus texensis is a robust solitary cactus (very rarely it tufts), also called "Candy cactus", because of its red and showy fruits. The variegated shape of this cactus presents the typical lighter areas in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: these characteristics will never be the same from one plant to another, therefore each exemplar will be absolutely unique and, for this reason, highly sought after by collectors. Its green-greyish stem has numerous evident ribs, from which emerge rigid and curved radial spines and straight central spines of pinkish-greyish color. In late spring you can admire its beautiful white-pink flowers. It is a very resistant cactus, ideal to bring a desert touch to your rocky gardens.
