Ariocarpus retusus f. variegated (Variegated)

The variegated shape of this plant has streaks or sometimes real yellow areas on the epidermis, due to the lack of chlorophyll in that precise point, therefore it is so much loved and sought because each exemplar will never be identical to another. In its normal form this rare cactus is very appreciated by collectors around the world for its particular very large tubercles. Generally solitary plant of slow growth, which only after so many years of life can reach 25 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height. It grows in the shape of a rosette flattened at the apex, and is green-gray or bluish, with the crown covered by a white and woolly down. In autumn you can admire its magnificent white or light pink flowers, which open during the day.
