Lapidaria margaretae

It is the only species of this genus, which takes its name from the Latin word "lapidem", meaning "stone": this specimen is, in fact, similar to stone both in terms of its shape and the marble color, that distinguishes it. Moreover, in nature it tends to grow in rocky soils, right in the middle of the stones, with which it almost camouflages itself. It is a dwarf succulent, that has stem and branches hidden under the leaves, which are large and squat, with a triangular section, almost resting on each other and with a typical marble color, that tends to lighten even more under the sun. Quite often this plant is also cultivated for its showy inflorescences: in spring, in fact, graceful yellow-orange daisy-like flowers bloom, which sometimes, due to their size, cover the entire plant.
