In nature it grows in the crevices of rocks and in the shade of bushes. Its name 'turgida' derives from its fleshy and turgid leaves, which are of a light green color. With the prolonged exposure to the direct sun, like all Haworthias, it may take on brown colors. Its not very attarctive white flower emerges from a long and thin peduncle.
