In nature it grows under shrubs; out of the ground only the translucent and flattened leaves protrude, that help the photosynthesis to process. It blends in perfectly with the ground color, defending itself from predators. It's a very slow growing plant, thus is highly sought after by green collectors from all over the world. With the prolonged exposure to the diret sun, like all Haworthias, it may take on brown colors.
