H. blackbeardiana is a succulent exemplar with a compact rosette layout that expands by turning on and creating new rosettes. It has fleshy green leaves, lanceolate in shape with serrated margins from which emerge small whitish bristles. With prolonged exposure to the sun it can take on pleasant purple hues. Its beautiful flowers bloom at the apex of the plant.
