It is a slow growing succulent plant. Numerous serpentine, cylindrical and tapered ramifications emerge from the central caudiciform stem, similar to the hair of Medusa, hence the nickname "Medusa plant". Its stems are entirely covered with small protuberances with white dots, caused by the fall of the leaves, which stand out against the green color of the stem.
