The name of the species derives from Latin and means "heart", referring to the very particular leaves, which take on this shape (which is why it is also commonly known as "Crassula with heart leaves"). It has erect and thin stems, which do not exceed 30 centimeters in height and do not branch out a lot. The stems are adorned with small heart-shaped leaves which are arranged, especially at the apex, in pleasant bluish-green rosettes with reddish tips or margins; depending on the sun exposure and the seasons, the epidermis fades considerably towards pink-red and is sprinkled with showy and particular dots on the upper epidermis.
