Caralluma turneri (Succulents)

This wonderful succulent specimen is native to some areas of Africa such as Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda; in its natural habitat it has adapted for survival in a climate which is arid with long periods of drought. It has long stems with 4 vertical ribs, each consisting of pointed protruding tubercles with a greyish-green or brown skin. The leaves of this fat plant are very small, green and tend to detach easily from the stem. Caralluma turneri is a very appreciated species for its inflorescences with a particular shape: its flowers have cylindrical petals with hanging bearing; they are white with reddish streaks that form a strong contrast.
