The name of the species refers to the island of Dioscorides, ancient name of Socotra, the land of origin of the exemplar. It is a wonderful succulent characterized by slender stems and tending, with growth, to prostrate towards the soil rooting quickly without exceeding about 10 cm in length. The caralluma is abundantly lit, giving life to pleasant bushes of tangled stems with a wavy and deeply dynamic trend. Each body, of a pleasant pale and opaque green, has a quadrangular section and is equipped, along the edges, with modest pointed tubercles similar to soft teeth. One of the strengths of Caralluma is undoubtedly the inflorescence, both peculiar and showy: near the apex of the stems bloom large flowers in the shape of a 5-pointed star, characterized by a central concave ring from which depart soft and shiny petals of a beautiful burgundy-red, adorned with a sparse dark down that protects them and makes them even more original, truly incomparable!
