It is a small succulent plant of the Astroloba genus, widespread in the arid areas of the Eastern Cape province, in South Africa. Astroloba foliolosa has thin stems (4-5 cm wide), which can grow over 20 cm in height and extend over the ground. The green colored stems are covered with rounded triangular leaves. The smooth, shiny and gray-green leaves curve outwards. This species blooms with creamy white flowers in the rainy season (July to March, depending on the region), tinged with green or yellow.
