The monstrous shape of this cactus presents geometric anomalies, for example, sometimes asymmetrical protuberances or absence of thorns, different for each individual exemplar, so much to make each of them absolutely unique and for this extremely sought after by collectors. These are cacti with a cylindrical and rather narrow stem, which can reach up to 50 cm in height while maintaining a diameter of a few centimeters. It has bright yellow radial spines, very short and thin, and two central spines slightly longer, flexible and of a beautiful golden shade. The small yellow flowers bloom as a corolla around the apex. The name of the species comes from the Latin and literally means "woolly spines", in reference precisely to the refined and soft consistency of the small spines!
