Rebutia patericalyx f. crested (Crested)

The crested shape of this cactus has the typical fan arrangement that makes each exemplar absolutely unique, never identical to another and for this reason very appreciated by collectors; its sinusoidal course is the typical and much loved one of the so-called "brain cacti", due to its resemblance to the human organ. The name of the species comes from Latin and literally means "bowl-shaped calyx", referring to the look of its ample scarlet flowers. In its normal form, R. patericalyx has small and often grouped stems, of slightly cylindrical shape. The cactus, of a beautiful dark green, contrasts pleasantly with the short and slender whitish thorns that are arranged radially around the small areolas, for an overall effect thorny and elegant at the same time!
