The crested shape of this succulent has a very particular fan crest that is never identical in plants, thus making each exemplar unique in its kind. In its normal form it is a rosette-shaped plant, with fleshy leaves of oval and rounded shape ending with a small tip. The epidermis is glaucous green tending to violet and is covered by a whitish plum. After a prolonged exposure to the sun the plant takes on reddish hues, especially on the tips.
