Description:

The crested shape of this cactus has a very particular fan-shaped crest as there will never be two identical crested plants, thus making each of them unique and for this reason very sought after by collectors. In its normal form, M. perezdelarosae is a globe-shaped cactus, perfectly spherical at a young age, which grows into a cylindrical and branched shape. Particularly sought after by collectors for its breathtaking appearance characterized by the contrast between the thorns: the central are long and hooked down, shaded from orange to black; the radial ones are white, combed and short and, along with the lint, cover the whole plant giving it an overall appearance from the characteristic silver, almost vitreous. At the end of winter the beauty of this Mammillaria is accentuated by the corolla of elegant cream to light pink flowers surrounding the apex.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce watering to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter.

The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
