Testudinaria (discorea) silvatica (Caudex)

Beautiful bulbous plant with climbing stems that reach 4-5 m in length. Its heart-shaped leaves are fleshy and dark green, with clearly visible veins. The subterranean bulb, which over time will grow and take the form of an elephant’s foot, has a surface covered by polygonal plaques and protects the plant ensuring its survival during drought periods. In nature, with a rich soil and suitable for the plant, the caudex will remain underground; instead, in a poor soil, dry or rocky we could see that it comes out of the ground. T. silvatica is a dioecious plant: on the same plant, you will find either only female flowers or male flowers, of small size and colors ranging from pale green to yellow and cream. The flowering period is November-February.
