The Sesamothamnus guerichii is a pachicaule (a plant with disproportionately large trunk) with swollen and shiny trunks, surmounted by rigid branches with thorns and gray-green leaves, grouped in clusters. The leaves may have a downy white cover, and its flowers are of a yellow color. In optimal soil conditions (warm climate and dry but drained soil) it can reach up to eight meters in height.
