Pterodiscus makatiniensis (Caudex)

This beautiful plant fully represents the wild desert charm of Africa! The name of the species refers to Makatini Flata, the area in which it was found for the first time and in which the plant still develops spontaneously. It is a very particular caudex, formed by a greenish-brown tuber which tends to ramify strongly, producing squat and swollen branches in which a remarkable quantity of water is stored. In the vegetative season the plant develops grassy branches with soft leaves with wavy margins and a surface rich in well evident veins; the dark green of the foliage creates a fantastic contrast when its large bell-shaped flowers of a delicate light yellow bloom.
