Commiphora unilobata (Caudex)

This rare shrubby succulent plant was discovered by researchers Jan Bevington Gillet and Kaj Borge Vollesen in 1985. Its erect, branching stem is covered with a yellowish-green papery bark and, if pruned regularly, can become a bonsai. It has lance-shaped leaves, green and with serrated edges. It produces a particular resin (myrrh) which is used to create an essential oil for perfumes. During the flowering season it blooms with small intense red flowers.
