Aeollanthus subacaulis light green (Sumbawanga) (Caudex)

The name "subacaulis" comes from Latin and means "almost without stem". Aeollanthus subacaulis is a perennial plant that develops from a globular tuberous root. It has green, elongated leaves of an elliptical shape, which are slightly curved inwards, have wavy edges, and are velvety to the touch. During the flowering period it blooms with conical pink-whitish flowers. In its caudex it stores water to survive drought periods. It is a deciduous plant, which means that it loses its leaves during the dormant period, and then regenerates them.
