It’s a perennial plant that develops from a tuberous root of a globose shape. It has green leaves, narrow at the base that widen at the apex, nicely velvet-like to the touch. In the flowering period it produces pretty conical pink-whitish flowers. Its massive root assumes caudiciform appearance, which allows it to store water to survive periods of drought. It’s a deciduous plant, because it loses its leaves during the vegetative rest period and then regenerates them with the new season restarting its vital cycle.
