In nature it grows close to Molinos in the Calchaquí valley in Mexico, so its name derives from the place of its origin. It is a cactus with a globular or ovoid stem in color that varies from green to green-brown, and which branches off easily. At the extremity of the tubercles there are large downy areoles and tufts of glochids of different colors: yellow, gray, reddish or brown; the spines are absent. It blooms with beautiful large white or light pink flowers. It is a plant that is easy to grow, but you have to be very careful when moving or transferring it, because its branches (segments) come off easily.
